FAQs

Q?How long have you been in business?
A.

OMNILINK has been operating for nearly 30 years. Our business started by improving government property plans. That has continued and we have expanded into many other areas and industries including geospatial  data management and consulting.

Q?Who are your current Customers?
A.

Kimbolton School, Claires Court Schools, Fettes College,Glenstal Abbey, The Leys and Wellington School are our UK foundation customers.  We already work closely with a large proportion of the independent schools in Australia and New Zealand. OMNILINK also maintains the property records for all government schools in the Australian state of New South Wales (via a long term contract arrangement), and for other commercial / government agencies.

Q?How can I get support services?
A.

OMNILINK offers a web based support service. Customers can log support requests for help, documentation and fault notification. All support requests are logged and replied to within a 24 hour period. In the unlikely situation of a serious software issue, OMNILINK has a technical resource to provide direct telephone and “log-in” support.

Q?Who owns the software and data?
A.

The customer has access to the AssetWhere™ software via a perpetual user licence. All data remains the property of the customer. The AssetWhere™ software and related data is installed at your site or as a Cloud Service (AWS located in the UK).

Q?Do I need to survey the school first?
A.

Generally not as the original plans and any additions are a rich source of information. Once collated we can advise if there any gaps. Quite often data overlaps and this helps to cover gaps. OMNILINK can deal with plans and files in different formats and scales.

Q?How can I keep AssetWhere™ updated?
A.

The customer can make changes to room and service details, update construction fields and add documents, etc. When it comes to new buildings or changes to room layouts, OMNILINK will add these. The school can decide the frequency of the updates – as data becomes available, via our quarterly Data Management Service or on an ad-hoc update basis. For minor adjustments the easiest way to pass changes to OMNILINK is to print out the relevant area using AssetWhere™ and mark up the change (with dimensions where possible). For new projects we would like to see CAD files once construction is underway, so that the new project is visible in AssetWhere™ when the building is commissioned.

Q?How can I share AssetWhere™ with others at my school?
A.

The AssetWhere™ Enterprise Edition allows schools to provide secure access to users across the campus.

Q?Can I give Contractors access to AssetWhere data?
A.

It’s very easy for users to plot out data as PDFs and share with contractors

Q?How long does an AssetWhere™ project take?
A.

Most projects are completed within a 2 month period. By starting with a thorough review of available data holdings, the process to collate data and create the AssetWhere™ database can progress in an efficient manner. On-site installation and training only takes 2 days, and then you are up and running. Thereafter OMNILINK provides support and a service to maintain your data.

Q?How much time needs to be invested by our organisation?
A.

As part of the initial data review we will need some help to find the data items that are at your school, plus contacts for data that may be maintained by others (i.e. architects and service providers). For the installation and training, we will need some assistance from your IT staff, and staff to be available for data verification and training. In normal circumstances this would be around a half day for each (over 2 days).
